In this time, I will narrate a story about

THE SMARTEST PARROT

Narration Script

Once upon time, a man had a wonderful parrot. There was no other parrot like it. The parrot could say every word, except one word. The parrot would not say the name of the place where it was born. The name of the place was Catano.

The man felt excited having the smartest parrot but he could not understand why the parrot would not say Catano. The man tried to teach the bird to say Catano, however the bird did not say the word.

At first, the man was very nice to the bird but then he got very angry. “You stupid bird!” pointed the man to the parrot. “Why can’t you say the word? Say Catano! Or I will kill you” the man said angrily. Although he tried hard to teach, the parrot would not say it. Then the man got so angry and shouted to the bird over and over; “Say Catano or I’ll kill you”. The bird kept not to say the word of Catano.

One day, after he had been trying so many times to make the bird say Catano, the man really got very angry. He could not bear it. He picked the parrot and threw it into the chicken house. There were four old chickens for next dinner “You are as stupid as the chickens. Just stay with them” Said the man angrily. Then he continued to humble; “You know, I will cut the chicken for my meal. Next it will be your turn, I will eat you too, stupid parrot”. After that he left the chicken house.

The next day, the man came back to the chicken house. He opened the door and was very surprised. He could not believe what he saw at the chicken house. There were three death chickens on the floor. At the moment, the parrot was standing proudly and screaming at the last old chicken; “Say Catano or I’ll kill you”.

Some tenses in that story : (ACTIVE – Subjek...Object, PASSIVE – Object...Subject)

            1.      Simple Past Future Tense

Active   : The parrot could say every word

Passive  : Every word could be said by the parrot

            2.      Simple Past Tense

Active   : The bird kept not to say the word of Catano

Passive  : The word of Catano was kept not to be said the bird

            3.      Simple Past Tense

Active   : The man tried to teach the bird to say Catano

Passive  : The bird was tried to teach by the man to say Catano

            4.      Simple Future Tense

Active   : I will cut the chicken for my meal

Passive  : The chicken will be cut by the man for his meal

            5.      Simple Present Tense

Active   : He left the chicken house

Passive  : The chicken house was left by him

Formula and Example for Tenses

Tenses adalah pembedaan bentuk kata kerja untuk menyatakan perbedaan waktu dan durasi suatu perbuatan atau kejadian.

1.        Simple Present Tense

Untuk menunjukkan fakta, kebiasaan, dan keadaan umum yang terjadi pada saat ini.

Berikut merupakan rumus dan contoh dari setiap kalimat positif (+), negatif (-), dan interogatif (?)

Rumus :

·           Kalimat Positif (+) :

Subject + Verb / Verb-s/es + Complement

ATAU

Subject + am/are/is + Complement

·           Kalimat Negatif (-) :

Subject + do/does not + Verb1 + Complement

ATAU

Subject + am/are/is + not + complement

·           Kalimat Interogatif (?) :

Do/does + Subject + Verb1 + Complement?

ATAU

Am/are/is + Subject + Complement?

Contoh Kalimat :

( + ) : My parents are at home.

( - )  : My parents aren’t at home.

( ? )  : Are your parents at home?

2.        Present Continuous Tense

Untuk membicarakan aksi yang sedang berlangsung dengan menggunakan durasi waktu untuk kata kerjanya.

Berikut merupakan rumus dan contoh dari setiap kalimat positif (+), negatif (-), dan interogatif (?)

Rumus :

·           Kalimat Positif (+) :

Subject + am/are/is + Verb-ing + Complement

·           Kalimat Negatif (-) :

Subject + am/are/is + Not + Complement

·           Kalimat Interogatif (?) :

Am/are/is + Subject + Verb-ing + Complement?

Contoh Kalimat :

( + ) : They are swimming on Monday at 5 o’clock.

( - )  : They aren’t swimming on Tuesday.

( ? )  : Are they swimming on Monday?

3.        Simple Past Tense

Untuk menunjukkan suatu kejadian di masa lampau.

Berikut merupakan rumus dan contoh dari setiap kalimat positif (+), negatif (-), dan interogatif (?)

Rumus :

·           Kalimat Positif (+) :

Subject + Verb2 + Complement

ATAU

Subject + was/were + Complement

·           Kalimat Negatif (-) :

Subject + did not/didn’t + Verb1 + Complement

ATAU

Subject + was/were + not + Complement

·           Kalimat Interogatif (?) :

Did + Subject + Verb1 + Complement?

ATAU

Was/were + Subject + Complement?

Contoh Kalimat :

( + ) : She wanted to study Math yesterday.

( - )  : She didn’t want to study Math yesterday.

( ? )  : Did she want to study Math yesterday?

4.        Past Perfect Tense

Untuk menyatakan bahwa suatu aksi telah selesai pada suatu titik di masa lalu sebelum aksi lainnya terjadi.

Berikut merupakan rumus dan contoh dari setiap kalimat positif (+), negatif (-), dan interogatif (?)

Rumus :

·           Kalimat Positif (+) :

Subject + had + Verb3 + Complement

·           Kalimat Negatif (-) :

Subject + had + not + Verb3 + Complement

·           Kalimat Interogatif (?) :

Had + Subject + Verb3 + Complement?

Contoh Kalimat :

( + ) : They had met twice before married.

( - )  : They hadn't met twice before married.

( ? )  : Had they met twice before married?

5.        Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Untuk menunjukkan aksi yang terjadi di masa lalu dan sudah selesai pada waktu tertentu di masa lalu juga.

Berikut merupakan rumus dan contoh dari setiap kalimat positif (+), negatif (-), dan interogatif (?)

Rumus :

·           Kalimat Positif (+) :

Subject + had + been + Verb-ing + Complement

·           Kalimat Negatif (-) :

Subject + had + not + been + Verb-ing + Complement

·           Kalimat Interogatif (?) :

Had + Subject + been + Verb-ing + Complement?

Contoh Kalimat :

( + ) : The fisherman had been hunting the fish all day long.

( - )  : The fisherman had not been hunting the fish all day long.

( ? )  : Had the fisherman been hunting the fish all day long?

6.        Simple Future Tense

Untuk menunjukkan aksi atau suatu keadaan di masa depan.

Berikut merupakan rumus dan contoh dari setiap kalimat positif (+), negatif (-), dan interogatif (?)

Rumus :

·           Kalimat Positif (+) :

Subject + will/be going to + Verb1 + Complement

·           Kalimat Negatif (-) :

Subject + will not / be not going to + Verb1 + Complement

·           Kalimat Interogatif (?) :

Will + Subject + Verb1 + Complement?

ATAU

Be + Subject + going to + Verb1 + Complement?

Contoh Kalimat :

( + ) : John is going to swim tomorrow.

( - )  : John is not going to swim tomorrow.

( ? )  : Are he going to swim tomorrow?

7.        Future Continuous Tense

Untuk menunjukkan suatu aksi atau keadaan yang akan terjadi di suatu waktu tertentu di masa yang akan datang.

Berikut merupakan rumus dan contoh dari setiap kalimat positif (+), negatif (-), dan interogatif (?)

Rumus :

·           Kalimat Positif (+) :

Subject + will / be going to+ be + Verb-ing + Complement

·           Kalimat Negatif (-) :

Subject + will not / be not going to + be + Verb-ing + Complement

·           Kalimat Interogatif (?) :

Am/are/is + Subject + Verb-ing + Complement?

Contoh Kalimat :

( + ) : She will be watching the news at 07.00 a.m.

( - )  : She won’t be watching the news at 07.00 a.m.

( ? )  : Will she be watching the news at 07.00 a.m?

8.        Past Future Tense

Untuk menunjukkan aksi yang akan dilakukan di masa lalu namun gagal (rencana yang gagal).

Berikut merupakan rumus dan contoh dari setiap kalimat positif (+), negatif (-), dan interogatif (?)

Rumus :

·           Kalimat Positif (+) :

Subject + would/should + Verb1 + Complement

·           Kalimat Negatif (-) :

Subject + would/should not + Verb1 + Complement

·           Kalimat Interogatif (?) :

Would/should + Subject + Verb1 + Complement?

Contoh Kalimat :

( + ) : The weather would be rainy.

( - )  : The weather wouldn’t be rainy.

( ? )  : Would the weather be rainy?

9.        Past Future Perfect Tense

Untuk menunjukkan suatu aksi yang akan sudah dilakukan di masa lampau namun ternyata tidak dilakukan (rencana yang gagal).

Berikut merupakan rumus dan contoh dari setiap kalimat positif (+), negatif (-), dan interogatif (?)

Rumus :

·           Kalimat Positif (+) :

Subject + would/should +  have + Verb3 + Complement

·           Kalimat Negatif (-) :

Subject + would/should not +  have + Verb3 + Complement

·           Kalimat Interogatif (?) :

Would/should + Subject + be + Verb3 + Complement?

Contoh Kalimat :

( + ) : He would have missed the train if i hadn't woken him up.

( - )  : He would not have missed the train if i had woken him up.

( ? )  : Would he have missed the train if i hadn't woken him up?
